The Knee is one of the prime contenders in the category of “most frequently injured body part"
Situated in a prime spot, the knee plays a pivotal role in nearly every fundamental move we make. It's hardly a shocker that it earns its stripes as one of the body's most injury-prone areas.
Knee injuries are most commonly caused by sports activities, falls, and day-to-day overuse. When you have a knee injury, the first thing you usually notice is knee pain.
This pain can come with one or more of the following signs:
Swelling,
Limping,
Loss of knee range of motion,
Buckling of the knee when trying to stand or walk
If your knee pain impacts your lifestyle, seeking help from professionals such as a Biokineticist can help you live pain-free.
Knee injuries affect athletes and individuals from all walks of life. In fact, these injuries are more common than you might think. Some of the most common knee injuries include ligament, meniscus, and cartilage sprains or tears, as well as overuse of the tendons or joint.
The good news? With the proper guidance, treatment, and prevention, you can overcome these challenges and return to an active lifestyle. Sometimes, knee injuries require surgical intervention, but many knee injuries can be rehabilitated through our exercise-based treatment programme.

Knee injuries often hide their true causes beneath the surface. With your Biokineticist, you will undertake a comprehensive examination to uncover the factors contributing to your discomfort. Induction to Rehabilitation & Building Your Rehabilitation Plan
Duration: 4 to 6 sessions of 45 to 60 mins per session.
Every knee injury is unique, and so is our approach to rehabilitation. Our “Induction” process is aimed at building your rehabilitation programme. Here, we choose a group of exercises and determine the most suitable variation for each exercise based on your needs. Next, is figuring out the correct exercise dosage (how many reps & sets, how much load, how often to do each exercise etc). We'll need to go through this process over a few sessions to see how your knee responds to the dosage and make tweaks until we get the programme just right. At the same time, you will be educating yourself about your knee injury and empowering yourself with the tools to rehabilitate and prevent further injury.
Duration: 8 to 12 sessions (per phase) of 45 to 60 mins per session.
After determining the optimal plan for your recovery during the induction phase, it's time to put that plan into action. This process usually involves 1 to 3 phases, with each of them lasting around 4 to 6 weeks. The number of phases required will be determined by the nature of your injury, its severity, and how quickly your injury is progressing. We perform reassessments after each 4-6 week phase so we can evaluate our progress and make decisions about how to move forward. Whether your goal is to achieve pain relief, or to improve function for work, sport and family commitments, we're here to guide you every step of the way.
Alternative Option: Our “Rehab At Home” option for Stage 3 involves us providing you with a home or gym-based programme which you can complete on your own. This includes continued support, should you require any advice along the way. “Rehab at Home” is an excellent option if your schedule doesn’t allow you to see us more frequently. However, your recovery is mostly in your own hands, and we only recommend this for less complex cases. If this interests you, discuss it with your Bio during your assessment.
